Amaretto Cherries With Dumplings Crockpot Recipe
Ingredients needed:
* 2 cans of pitted tart cherries
* 3/4 cup of sugar
* 1/4 cup of cornstarch
* 1/8 teaspoon of salt
* 1/4 cup of amaretto
Dumpling ingredients needed:
* 1 cup of all-purpose flour
* 1/4 cup of sugar
* 1 teaspoon of baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon of grated lemon peel
* 1/8 teaspoon of salt
* 1/3 cup of 2% milk
* 3 tablespoons of butter, melted
* Vanilla ice cream, optional
Preparation steps:
* Drain cherries, reserving 1/4 cup of juice. Place cherries into crockpot.
* In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cornstarch and salt. Stir in reserved juice until smooth. Add to crockpot. Cover and cook on high for 7 hours. Drizzle amaretto over cherry mixture.
* For dumplings, in a small bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, lemon peel and salt. Stir in milk and butter just until moistened. Drop by tablespoons onto hot cherry mixture. Cover and cook for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in a dumpling comes out clean. Serve warm with ice cream if desired.
